Clear methodology in the planning process
Planning the heat pump factory of the future
Protecting the climate and the environment is at the top of the agenda in politics, business and society. A significant part of Germany’s total energy demand is used for the heating of homes, which is predominantly supplied by gas. Heat pumps are a viable technology for reducing dependence on gas and protecting the climate and the environment. Viessmann is a leader in the field of heat pump development, and its attractive products are driving a strong increase in market demand. To meet this demand, a new “Factory of the Future“ with an area of 40,000 square meters is being built in Legnica, Poland.
UNITY supports Viessmann from the initial idea to the commissioning. In the beginning, UNITY defined which products had to be manufactured in which quantities. Based on this, UNITY could determine which process to use, design an appropriate production system and select suitable technologies. Afterwards, the results that were developed were transferred into a 3D layout. This was then synchronized with the building planners and converted into a complete model consisting of buildings and equipment. In addition, UNITY prepared, among others, detailed specifications for the driverless transport systems and assisted in the selection of suppliers. UNITY also provided Viessmann with advice and support during the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Since the end of 2022, the plan has been implemented and the building will be constructed. The goal is to start production in the third quarter of 2023.
