A law that requires operational resilience?

The Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) is a major European Union regulatory project aimed at strengthening the digital resilience of financial institutions. At a time when cyber threats and ICT-related incidents are on the rise, it is essential that financial institutions are able to prevent, detect and respond to such events. DORA requires all financial organizations, including banks, insurers and investment firms, to implement and regularly test robust incident detection and reporting systems and processes. New rules for the management of ICT risks and the obligation to report incidents are intended to ensure the security and stability of the financial sector. The regulation will apply from 17 January 2025 and places considerable demands on companies, both in technical and organizational terms. Violations could result in high fines, which underscores the urgency of its implementation.
