Digital Twin
Digital twins are virtual representations of physical systems. They enable companies to use data and insights over the entire life cycle to optimize the efficiency, quality and reliability of their products and processes.
UNITY supports the following three main areas of application for digital twins:
The digital twin in product development is used for visualization and simulation, among other things. It accelerates the planning and development process through improved collaboration between the departments involved and digital validation, e.g. by using the Industrial Metaverse.
Typical areas of application in logistics and production are the simulation and optimization of manufacturing and assembly processes, taking into account the source material (product), operating resources and manufacturing process. In the production environment, the digital twin of the operating phase is initialized by enriching the digital twin of product creation with, for example, serialization, software and production information.
The digital twin of the finished product in the operating phase enables a wide range of innovative services and offers the prospect of a significant expansion of the business model (e.g. function on demand, update over the air, predictive maintenance, etc.). In addition, field data, for example, can be used to understand customer behavior for future innovations.
